Welcome to the January newsletter of Winyates Playgroup, and a special welcome to all the new children and their parents/carers. Our newsletter is produced so that we can let you know what the children will be doing in the coming months and provide you with information about the playgroup.
We would like to say a big thank you to parents that have donated old toys, paper and card. We always welcome anymore especially wallpaper.
We are promoting Healthy Eating in the group by providing fresh fruit daily at snack time and a weekly food of the week for them to try at home with you. Please support us by encouraging healthier options within your child’s packed lunches. No sweets, chocolates or yoghurts that have sweets in them please. Please wrap food in food bags, foil or cling film. Any leftover food is wrapped up and sent home, so you are aware what your child has (or has not) eaten. Please supply your child with adequate drinks, they are allowed one third of a pint of milk free per day. We provide water if your child’s drink has run out. If your child is at playgroup all day, make sure the packed lunch has an ice block in it. Spoons for yoghurts will be provided. Could you please peel and cut up pieces of fruit into bite size pieces and halve : grapes, strawberries, cherry tomatoes etc. -so they are ready for your children to eat. As you can understand that most days there can be 26 children for lunch. Thank you.
Mrs Donaldson has been attending a sign language course, to benefit the children with developing language skills. We aim to incorporate her skill within our curriculum each week by teaching the children basic signings, probably one a week, like colours, numbers, happy and sad, greetings etc.
